The New York Times recently dubbed him "Brazil's unofficial poet laureate". With a total of five Latin Grammys, Veloso has received more Recording Academy awards than any other Brazilian performer.
David Byrne
David Byrne is a Scottish-American musician and artist best known as a founding member and principal songwriter of the New Wave band Talking Heads, which was active between 1974 and 1991. Since then, Byrne has released his own solo projects on record, and worked in a variety of media, including film, photography, opera, and Internet-based projects. He has received Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe awards for his achievements.
Gilberto Gil
Gilberto Gil is a Grammy Award-winning Brazilian singer, guitarist, and songwriter, known for both his musical innovation and his political commitment. From 2003 to 2008, he served as Brazil's Minister of Culture in the administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In 2005, he won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album for "Eletracústico". In May 2005 he was awarded the Polar Music Prize by Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in Stockholm, the prize's first for a Latin American artist.

An accomplished visual artist by 2002, Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam (aka M.I.A), came to prominence in early 2004 through file-sharing of her singles "Galang" and "Sunshowers" on the Internet. She released her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Arular in 2005. Her second album, "Kala", was released in 2007 and gained her mainstream chart success. Arulpragasam has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and an Oscar.
Thievery Corporation
Thievery Corporation was formed in the summer of 1995 at Washington DC’s Eighteenth Street Lounge. Rob Garza and Lounge co-owner Eric Hilton were drawn together over their mutual love of club life, as well as dub, Bossa Nova and Jazz records. They have worked with Bebel Gilberto in several occasions and created countless remixes. The group released their fifth album, "Radio Retaliation", in 2008, and it was nominated for a Grammy.
CSS
Brazil’s first international hit band of the Internet era, CSS was signed by the seminal American label Sub Pop, selling as many as 60,000 copies in the US and Europe up to February 2007. The band caught an unlikely break when their song "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex" was used in a worldwide television commercial by Apple Inc. It hit #63 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the highest charting single by a Brazilian band in the history of the chart.
Seu Jorge
Seu Jorge has gained exposure through his work as an actor and soundtrack composer. He appeared in the critically acclaimed film “City of God” as Mané Galinha, and then played Pelé Dos Santos in Wes Anderson's “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”, for which he provided much of the soundtrack in the form of Portuguese language cover versions of David Bowie classics.
Tom Zé
Tom Zé is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who was influential in the Tropicália movement of 1960's Brazil. After the peak of the Tropicália period, Zé went into relative obscurity: it was only in the 1990's, when the musician and label head David Byrne discovered an album recorded by Zé many years earlier, that he returned to performing and releasing new material.
Bebel Gilberto
The most successful Brazilian artist in the international market since Sergio Mendes, the singer was nominated for four Grammy Awards since 2000. With her album "Tanto Tempo", she became the voice of a "new Brazilian sound", performing sold-out concerts all over the world.

GUTO BARRA, Co-Producer, Director
Guto Barra graduated in Journalism at the Catholic University of São Paulo and, in 1993, went on to be a cultural reporter at "Folha de S.Paulo", Brazil’s largest daily. He eventually became the editor of a daily style section at "Jornal da Tarde", one of São Paulo’s main newspapers.
He relocated to New York City in early 1997, to run his company Planet Pop (along with Brazilian journalist Ricardo Bairos), which quickly became one of the main entertainment news sources for major Brazilian media outlets such as Vogue Brazil, MTV Brazil, Globo Networks, Terra Networks and many others. He closely followed the wave of Brazilian music in the American market in the past decade and interviewed music and film artists such as the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Prince, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and many others. He also authored articles about Brazilian culture in American and European magazines and produced short films about the aftermath of September 11th in New York City.
In 2003, after producing numerous segments for MTV Brazil, Terra and Globo Networks, he directed his first full-length documentary, “Clash of Cultures”, about the New York Electro scene. Featuring names such as Scissor Sisters Fischerspooner, Ladytron, Miss Kittin and Peaches, the film was acquired by MTV Brazil and released as a DVD+CD package in South America by ST2 Video. It was also shown in numerous film festivals in the United States, South America and Europe. Guto eventually contributed in projects involving some of the artists in the film. He went on to produce and direct TV specials for MTV, PBS and Brazilian network Multishow.
BÉCO DRANOFF, Co-Producer, Music Direction and Music Supervisor
São Paulo born Béco Dranoff is an A&R, producer, music supervisor and compiler with large experience in promoting Brazilian music around the world. While attending college in Brazil, Béco worked as a music programmer at the Top 40 Jovem Pan II FM station, and as an in-house producer at venues such as 'Projeto SP' and '150 Jazz Club'. In 1988 he received his bachelors degree in Mass Media / Communications / Radio & TV from FAAP University.
Since relocating to New York City in the late 80's, Béco has been involved in many aspects of the music industry. First through his company Artmosphere Inc., acting as a tour manager for artists such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Margareth Menezes. In 1994 Béco joined forces with pro-social production company The Red Hot Organization to produce the HIV/AIDS benefit project ‘Red Hot + Rio’ (and its companion ‘Novabossa’, both released on Verve Records) as well as subsequent projects including 'Onda Sonora: Red Hot + Lisbon' (and its companion 'Red Hot In Portugal', both released on Movieplay Portugal).
During the 1990’s, Béco developed seminal album projects such as 'Caipiríssima: Batucada Eletrônica' (Caipirinha Records), the 'The Best Of Os Mutantes: Everything is Possible' compilation with David Byrne (Luaka Bop Records), the soundtrack for Miramax Film's 'Next Stop Wonderland', directed by Brad Anderson (Verve Records), Chico Science & Nação Zumbi posthumous remix project 'CSNZ' (Sony Brasil), and more. He was a music consultant on Angelique Kidjo's Brazilian inspired and Grammy nominated album 'Black Ivory Soul' (Sony Music).
In 1998 Béco co-founded the Ziriguiboom label in partnership with Brussels based Crammed Discs. Ziriguiboom's aim is to expose and release new and modern artists from Brazil. To date, Ziriguiboom has released 25 albums and compilations and the roster includes (four time Grammy nominated artist) Bebel Gilberto, Zuco 103, Celso Fonseca, Cibelle, Trio Mocotó, Bossacucanova, DJ Dolores, Apollo Nove and the late producer Suba.
In December 2008, Béco co-produced RED HOT + RIO 2 LIVE at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, a series of two concerts to benefit NY based Brazil Foundation. Béco is currently producing two original music projects - Sambismo and Ondular.
